2019 Scholarship Information

The Indiana Structural Engineers Association (ISEA) is offering scholarships to outstanding university students studying Structural Engineering and who plan to pursue a professional career in the practice of Structural Engineering. This year ISEA will award up to three $1,500 scholarships for use toward tuition, books, supplies, or living expenses. The submittal requirements and process, evaluation criteria, and award description for the Scholarship Program are outlined on this webpage.

Participation in the Scholarship Program is offered to candidates attending the following Indiana universities. In addition, graduates of Indiana high schools attending an ABET accredited civil engineering university outside of Indiana may apply.

  1. Purdue University Fort Wayne 
  2. Purdue University at West Lafayette 
  3. Purdue University Northwest 
  4. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 
  5. Trine University 
  6. University of Evansville 
  7. University of Notre Dame 
  8. Valparaiso University 

Additional Requirements: 

  1. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a program of study majoring in Structural Engineering. 
  2. Candidates must be either a Junior, or a graduating Senior intending to continue with post graduate academic studies in Structural Engineering starting in the Fall of 2019. 
  3. Candidates must have a commitment to making a professional career in the practice of Structural Engineering. 

How To Apply:

  1. Complete the application form, sign, date and scan as a pdf. All information except signature can be typed into the fillable pdf form. If additional forms are needed they can be downloaded below.
  2. Provide an official transcript for all universities attended showing courses taken and grades received.
  3. A letter of recommendation from a professor or employer is encouraged, but not required.  Letters of recommendation should be relevant to structural engineering (e.g. structural engineering professor, past or current employer in a structural engineering firm).

Submittals must be received no later than January 31, 2019.

Completed applications,  including transcripts and all other related documents, should be submitted via email to A confirmation email will be sent to acknowledge receipt of all applications. 

Evaluation and Grading Criteria

Review of candidate submissions by the ISEA Scholarship Committee will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Classes and GPA. 
  2. Experiences in extra-curricular activities. 
  3. Career aspirations. 
  4. Recommendations from faculty or employer (past or current) will be considered, but are not required for application.

Award of Scholarship

Applicants will be notified of results by February 15, 2019. The scholarship award recipients will be invited to attend and be introduced at the ISEA Spring Conference on March 7, 2019.

Checks in the amount of $1,500 will be presented to the scholarship award recipients pending confirmation of enrollment in the Fall of 2019.
